Distance Doesn’t Mean It’s Over! 💋

I don’t really know where this is going to go but I wanted to make a post about my long distance ‘bestfriendship’ (yep I just made that up) If you read my “My 17th Birthday!!” post you will know that I got to see my bestfriend after a year and a half. She had to move away due to personal reasons and my life has changed.

Lydia is actually a year younger than me but friendship isn’t about numbers. We were so close when she lived near me, we saw each other every day at school and spent a lot of time together out of school too. She helped me through one of the most difficult times of my life which I am forever grateful for. We share so many memories from that time like, going to mcdonalds every morning before school (I know, I know 😂 ) and watching let down movies oh and she makes an amazing late evening breakfast 😊

When Lydia moved away we had actually fallen out so we went a good few months not talking. We still had each other on snapchat and after a while she decided she wanted to talk and kept messaging me. I resisted for a bit but finally gave in and we spoke 😊 and it wasn’t long until we were best friends again! On my birthday we finally got to see each other after sooo long! And it was honestly like we’d never been apart. Of course we spoke everyday over text and facetime but it’s not the same but thanks to social media were able to still stay in touch.

If someone close to you moves away know that it’s not the end, you don’t need to live 5 minutes apart to be besties. Our friendship survived and we’re stronger than ever! I can’t wait to see what the future brings.

A letter to Lydia: Thank you for everything you’ve done for me, thank you for the laughs, the memories and the food 🍕 thank you for making me a better person and not sugar coating when I need a stern word. Thank you for making me realise I can trust someone with my life and that real friends exist. Thank you!

Distance doesn’t mean it’s over it just means the time you share together you cherish more and dark times are a little harder but if the friendship is strong it’ll only get stronger. It doesn’t have to be difficult or daunting it’s just different. ❤️
